One of our first newsletter subscribers asked for more posts about shops and cafés, and I’m happy to oblige.
If you’re headed northwest of Ottawa, between Renfrew and Pembroke, Simple Things in Beachburg is an eminently pleasant place to browse for crafts, garden decor, jewellery and gifts. Keep an eye out for the store’s eco-friendly Whitewater lines of bath and body products (body wash, hand lotion and so on) and soy candles (the latter in scents such as buttered maple and ginger fig). In summer, there’s a pretty outdoor café serving coffee, tea and baked goods.
