I don’t know about you, but cold weather always makes me hungry. Fortunately, more and more cities are offering “restaurant weeks” and other food festivals to lure us out of our warm homes in the depths of winter. It’s worth bundling up to enjoy deep discounts on special menus concocted by some pretty imaginative chefs.

In fact, these events are becoming so popular that you have to move fast to snag seats at the hottest venues. Here are some of the bigger restaurant events on the radar over the next few months; I’ve included the opening date for reservations, when available.

  • Winterlicious, Toronto, January 30 to February 12 (reservations open January 15): More than 200 restaurants are offering prix fixe menus this year.
  • NYC Restaurant Week, February 16 to March 6 (reservations open February 2): In the city that never sleeps but loves to eat, a three-course lunch for $25 or a three-course dinner for $38 is a steal.
  • Montréal en Lumière, February 10 to March 1: This multifaceted winter festival features a wide variety of dining discounts and events.
  • Countylicious, April 10 to May 3: Prince Edward County restaurants serve up prix fixe menus for $30 to $35.
