Looking for a reason for a road trip—or just an in-town adventure—this weekend? How about these?

The Carleton Place Spring Home Show (April 10 to 12) features hundreds of vendors, a country music dance on Friday night, a children’s show on Saturday morning, and a fashion show on Saturday afternoon. And tickets are just $5.

You can choose from more than 12,000 donated books at this weekend’s book sale at the Rockcliffe Park Community Hall (April 11 and 12). It’s a fundraiser for the Rockcliffe Branch of the Ottawa Public Library.

Kidsfest brings musicians, puppeteers, acrobats and other tot-friendly entertainment to the EY Centre on April 11 and 12.

Kingston-based band Turpin’s Trail plays the Cove Country Inn in Westport on April 11 from 1pm to 4pm in a fundraiser for a school in Elgin.

It’s like a school concert on steroids: 230 students from the Adirondacks are performing with classical/rock violinist Daisy Jopling at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts on April 12. (Check out the video above.)

Butterflies Go Free is on at the Montreal Botanical Garden until April 26. If you wander through the Main Exhibition Greenhouse, camera in hand, you won’t be short of photo possibilities.

OK, this isn’t technically on the weekend; it’s next Tuesday. But I had to mention it: tickets are still available to see The Tragically Hip perform in their hometown of Kingston on April 14. That’s not a chance that comes around every day.
