Ottawa-area maple syrup spots are opening for the 2022 season!

If you love maple syrup, maple sugar, maple taffy, maple butter—anything sweet and spring-like, basically—I have good news for you: Some maple sugarbushes (aka sucreries) across Eastern Ontario and the Outaouais are going to be open to visitors in spring 2022! Here’s the scoop on who’s opening when, and what activities and food will be available.

As we all know all too well by now, rules and restrictions can change by the day, so please check a business’s website or social media for the latest information on its operations—in particular, any requirements to make reservations in advance—before heading out.

Also: This post includes only those sugarbushes that are offering tours and other activities in 2022. However, that’s not the only way to support your favourite maple syrup maker! Please check this post for information on sugarbushes that are selling their products online, in a farm store or via contactless pickup.

And, as always, if I’ve overlooked your favourite place, let me know and I’ll do my best to include it.

Ottawa maple syrup producers

  • The Log Farm, Cedarview Road: The sugarbush will be open on weekends from March 5 to April 3, as well as during Ontario’s March Break on March 14, 17 and 18. Visitors can collect sap buckets, see how syrup is made, tour the pioneer farmhouse and visit the barn animals. You need to book tickets online in advance.
  • Proulx Farm, Cumberland: Maple Fest is open on weekends by advance reservation from February 27 until April 18. It is also open from March 16 to 18 (Ontario March Break) and the Friday and Monday of Easter Weekend (April 15 to 18). The pancake house opens for the season on March 6. Depending on the day, you can get s’mores and hot dog kits to enjoy around the fire, pet farm animals, enjoy the outdoor playground, have brunch, or go snowshoeing, hiking or cross-country skiing.
  • Stanley’s Olde Maple Lane Farm, Edwards: The sugarbush is open on weekends from February 26 to April 17, with an animal barn, walking trails, a taffy shack, tractor-pulled wagon rides, and deep-fried pancakes (yes, you read that right) and other treats. The farm shop (please check Stanley’s website for current hours) sells take-home meals and baked goods as well as maple products.
  • Vanier Museopark Sugar Shack: The sucrerie is running an all-virtual maple festival this year from March 26 to April 3.

  • Fulton’s, Pakenham: The trails and the maple shop at Fulton’s are open daily for the season from February 19 to April 18. Sleigh rides are available on weekends, as well as on Family Day (February 21) and on weekdays during Ontario March Break (March 14 to 18).
  • Grants Settlement Farms, Foresters Falls: Sugar shack tours will be available on Saturdays from March 5 to April 16 (and, possibly, on other days—their website has details on who to contact to check). As well as maple syrup, sugar and other maple food products, you can buy all sorts of maple-themed gifts (Christmas ornaments, mailboxes, you name it) online or at the farms’ Lakeside General Store in Cobden.
  • Temple’s Sugar Bush, Lanark: Temple’s is serving up pancake breakfasts from Wednesdays through Saturdays from March 5 to April 24.
  • Wheelers Maple Products, McDonald’s Corners: The pancake house, sugarbush and museums are currently open on weekends.

  • Erablière J.B. Caron, Gracefield: From March 19 to April 17, you can visit farm animals, enjoy taffy on snow and much more. (You can also pre-order a takeout meal that allows you to recreate the sugar shack experience at home.) Call in advance to book your time to visit.
  • Sucrerie de la Montagne, Rigaud: One of the region’s largest sugar shacks, this sucrerie is open seven days a week from February 19 until May 1. Visit the maple syrup operation, take a horse-drawn sleigh or wagon ride, eat taffy, or enjoy traditional Quebec specialties like baked beans, meat pie and pea soup. Reserve in advance.
  • Ferme Patry, Ange-Gardien: The sugar shack will be open daily starting March 4. You can explore the trails and shop for maple products (syrup, candies, tea and much more) daily, and enjoy maple taffy on weekends. No reservations needed.
